From personal experience and observation, keeping the leadership and team in place for the first five years of a church’s life is a key to it’s ongoing health. In my book “The Genius in the Kingdom: How Discipleship Impacts Church planting” I write:
“….the longer the planting leader and team are in synergy and partnership the more likely it is that:
1. The focus on prayer, evangelism and discipleship will remain in place as a priority;
2. The high emotional cost experienced in those early years will be better managed;
3. The culture will be integrated into every practice or rhythm of every person involved; and,
4. The disciples being made will be made to Christ and the team’s longevity will help move the new church to multiplication and movement.
We must keep these things in place – not just for viability but because our goal is multiplication and movement.
The book is now available on paperback and Kindle from Amazon.
