A New Chapter in Life

I have never seen myself as someone who would take the time to write a book. I love reading and so I have often wondered about the people who have taken the time to write the book in my hands. What kind of people are they? Why did they feel to write the book? But, after years of ministry and then the conclusion of the writing of a PhD thesis, I thought I had something to say.

That is, to put in writing! Over the next little while, I will share some short insights into what has been on my mind and the mission God has given to His people in Australia.

In my book “The Genius in the Kingdom: how discipleship impacts church planting” I begin by explaining what I have learnt about multiplication and movement as it relates to our mission. We have sought it for a long time without really successfully and sustainably experiencing it.

Here’s something from the early part of the book:

“As far as I can see, the elements in the Church planting ecosystem are universal, by this I mean that they can work in any context or culture. They are simple meaning that everyone in the priesthood of all believers can be involved and they are repeatable and therefore potent. Finally, they naturally provide the room for the capstone which is the disciples making disciples approach. The rest is mathematics – believe it or not. The ‘holy grail’ of multiplication and therefore movement in my view, lies at the junction of two breakthroughs – first, that we as the priesthood of all believers have reverted to a discipleship construct for literally everything. And secondly, that the disciples we have made, have themselves begun to make disciples. Once this threshold is crossed in sufficient numbers, the breakthroughs for this country will begin.”
(p10 of “The Genius in the Kingdom”)

Our shared convictions about discipleship are maturing at a wonderful rate and I believe that as we act on these convictions, movement will come closer and closer. The book will be released on 3 October through Amazon.

Peace
Colin
