Reaching our nation so that they can hear about Jesus in a way that will make sense to them will require something of us. In my book ‘The Genius in the Kingdom: How Discipleship Impacts Church Planting” I write:
I am a tradesman-missionary who has learnt a few lessons while trying to be effective in discipleship. From my experience, I have learnt that the current context in which we are living, requires us as the Body of Jesus, that whatever we do in culture must be more about discipleship than about the Sunday Service. I am not saying that the Sunday Service is superseded or not needed because any group of Jesus’ disciples will gather and want to respond in worship to the One who has given them life. However, I believe that discipleship will be what makes planting possible even in difficult contexts around our country and the service of worship is, if it is done well, will be what will strengthen and affirm the followers of Jesus while they are on their missionary commission.”
Even our best efforts will at best reach about 15% of our country. We must accept the challenge to get beyond this point as soon as possible.
My book is available on Kindle and in paperback from Amazon.
